RESEARCH HIGHLIGHT:
A recent study aimed to map out areas on the body that are sensitive to touch during sex, specifically focusing on the breasts, vulva, and vagina. These areas, when touched, can cause either pleasure or discomfort. To figure this out, researchers created a questionnaire and asked 441 women to identify which parts of these areas felt good or uncomfortable when touched. For the vulva, the most pleasurable areas were around the vaginal opening, near the urethra, and the clitoris. For the breasts, the nipple and the breast tissue were identified as pleasurable but for a small percentage considered too sensitive or even painful. In the vagina, the front and back areas near the opening were the most pleasurable for many women.
Q&A WITH DR. MALIK:
A Question from a subscriber: “how effective is ptns for oab?”
Answer:
PTNS is a minimally invasive treatment that involves the stimulation of the posterior tibial nerve, which is located in the lower leg. This nerve connects to the nerve root that controls the bladder and pelvic floor. The stimulation is typically achieved through the insertion of a small acupuncture-type needle near the ankle, and an external stimulator delivers electrical impulses to the nerve. It is very low risk but requires weekly treatments for 30 minutes each week for 12 weeks and then monthly thereafter. Approximately 60-80% of patients with OAB experience significant improvements in their symptoms following PTNS.

WHAT’S NEW WITH DR. MALIK?
We just got back from spending Thanksgiving in Las Vegas. We watched Piff the Magic Dragon where my son got pulled up on stage to do a skit with Piff, Nathan Burton Comedy Magic, the Jabbawockeez, and Illuminate. Piff was great for the kids and we enjoyed it too. Out of the two dance shows we loved Illuminate and my youngest son is really into breakdancing so he made sure to show his skills off during the show to one of the dancers.
