This Week’s Yourology With Dr. Malik:
Is It Just for Erections?
Welcome to Yourology with Dr. Malik – your weekly prescription for the latest medical updates, valuable insights, and freshest highlights straight from the frontlines of medicine!
📝 I’m breaking down a study showing how an ED med might offer more benefits than just bedroom help.
🛏️ I answered a question about feeling insecure during sex and shared tips to ease nerves and connect better.
🫦 I had an empowering chat with Dr. Mariza Snyder about pelvic health, libido, and the importance of orgasms.
💊 On YouTube, I explored the differences between tadalafil and sildenafil—what they do and how to choose the best for you.
🫂 My podcast with Dr. Sasha Hamdani discusses ADHD’s impact on relationships, sex, and how it affects your connection.
Have you ever thought that a little blue pill could do more than just help with erections? This study looked at nonobese men with mild ED and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and found that daily tadalafil not only improved their symptoms but also increased lean body mass and enhanced endothelial function. What’s especially fascinating is that these benefits were confirmed both in the clinical setting and through in vitro tests.
This common ED medication might also support body composition and vascular health—even in men who aren’t obese. So it may be doing more under the surface than we give it credit for.
This week, someone asked me, “I have a problem. Sometime I get nervous if I'm doing something wrong in bed or not. How would you approach this? Is this somethign you normally share?”. Here’s the answer to that, it's completely normal to feel a bit nervous about your performance in the bedroom—it's more common than you might think, and I want you to know that you're not alone. A great way to start feeling confident about sex is to ask your partner - what they like and what they want more of? It keeps it positive and you get some feedback about what turns them on. Try to talk about sex outside the bedroom as to keep the bedroom a stress-free zone. If this anxiety continues or starts to interfere with your sexual satisfaction, talking to a therapist with expertise in sexual health can be very helpful. It's perfectly okay to ask for help! Remember sex is play and it's supposed to be fun! It's a skill and takes practice to get better, no one is automatically good at sex.
I love hearing from you, so if there’s a question you’ve been wanting to ask, just let me know. Who knows? Your question might be the one I dive into next!
WHAT I’VE BEEN UP TO LATELY
I recently joined Energized with Dr. Mariza Snyder for a candid conversation about everything we should be talking about but often don’t—like pelvic floor dysfunction, leaky bladder, UTIs, low libido, and yes, the many benefits of orgasms. We unpack what’s really behind those leaks (hint: it’s not just aging), how hormones affect your sex drive, and why taking care of your pelvic health is essential for feeling strong, confident, and in control. This episode is packed with empowering info every woman deserves to hear—listen now here!
HIGHLIGHTS FROM MY CHANNEL
In this episode, I explored the differences between popular erection pills like tadalafil and sildenafil to help you find the right fit for you. Quote: "When it comes to ED medications, one size doesn't fit all. Different men respond better to certain medications and have different preferences."
Here are some quick takeaways:
Tadalafil has a 74% first-dose success rate, compared to sildenafil at 54%.
Sildenafil works faster (15-30 mins) but tadalafil lasts longer (up to 36 hours).
Younger men tend to prefer tadalafil for spontaneity, while older men may lean toward sildenafil.
If you're curious about which medication might suit you best, you might want to consider what's most important—quick action or lasting effects. For more detailed insights, dive into the full episode where we shed light on finding the best ED solution for your lifestyle!
HIGHLIGHTS FROM MY PODCAST
I had an insightful conversation with Dr. Sasha Hamdani about living with ADHD, its impacts on relationships and sexuality, and how hormones can throw the ADHD brain off balance. Dr. Sasha Hamdani shared some eye-opening perspectives. For instance, she mentioned "It's weird. I don't like my ADHD... the focus component, sometimes it's hard to stay engaged with your partner."
Here's what you need to know:
ADHD can affect focus and emotional responses in relationships, sometimes leading to unnecessary self-doubt and rejection sensitivity.
Communication is crucial. It's about recognizing the patterns and finding ways to support each other through tough times.
Dr. Sasha also dives into the world of ADHD medication, explaining how it can help manage symptoms on challenging days.
Listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or here to learn why Dr. Sasha emphasizes the importance of understanding your own brain—and the power of medication as a tool, not a cure! Tune in to find out why listeners are commenting, “Oh my god! The title alone resonates. I never thought of adhd hindering me sexually until recently.”
