Have you ever thought about how we can make sure we maintain a satisfying sexual life as we age? This week, someone asked me “Why is it that shortly after I have an orgasm, I get a big urge to have to urinate? No matter how full my bladder really is”. Here’s the explanation for that, during orgasm, the muscles in your pelvic floor, including the bladder and urethra, experience a series of intense contractions. This is normal and a natural part of the orgasmic response. However, for some people, after these contractions there is a sudden relaxation of the pelvic floor muscles which may cause a bit of a "rebound effect," where your bladder starts to signal that it needs to be emptied, even if it's not actually that full.
